Weird question about my pug?

Angela asked:

First off she’s NOT pregnant. I’ve been to 2 different vets within the past week that say she’s not pregnant and it’s been 4 months since she’s been in heat.

However, her ***** are HUGE, full of milk. they’ve been that way for about a month or two now. They just keep getting bigger and bigger. I feel so bad for her, they have to be sore!!! her ***** have always been larger than normal…but now they’re really big and I know it’s milk cause i’ve squeezed some out (I know it’s gross but I wanted to check). Also the last week she’s been nesting, bad. Going in closets, toyboxes, bath tubs, towel hampers, messing up the cushions to the couch, making bed out of anything soft, exc.

I’m 38 weeks pregnant, very close to my due date. Could she possibly sense I’m pregnant and is trying to help me prepare for my baby?? why is she making so much milk?? and even before there was milk in them they were big, why??….she’s not fat at all she’s very in shape.

she’s 3 years old and she’s not under any stress. It is really hot here but I couldn’t understand why that would make her do this.

HELP PLEASE

sounds like you need to find a new vet that can really tell you whats going on cause this does not seem normal sounds too me like it’s a false pregnancy
you should spay her you won’t end up with so many problems

    Sometimes dogs have pseudo pregnancies.

But, if you and your dog are closely bonded it is possible she is reacting off your hormones.

she’s having a false pregnancy.. it has nothing to do with your own pregnancy.. dogs can go thru it sometimes even months after their heat cycle.

You’ve had her to the vet and did not discuss ways to end her false pregnancy? Sometimes dogs require hormones and a spay to end this.

It is probably a false pregnancy, if you do not plan on breeding your dog you should get her spayed soon. Otherwise you may end up with 1 baby and quite a few pug mixes.

She’s displaying classic symptoms of a pseudo- or false pregnancy. It occurs 6-12 weeks after a heat cycle and is due to higher than normal levels of the hormone prolactin, which is responsible for milk production. This is a self-limiting condition but it tends to recur and the continued stimulation of the mammary glands raises the risk of cancer, so your dog should be spayed as soon as possible! That’s the only way to prevent pseudopregnancy. Get rid of the ovaries, problem solved :)
